Tacoma’s “Mayberry” Where Families Put Down Roots

There’s something special about Fircrest.

People feel it the moment they drive through the tree-lined streets, wave to neighbors walking their dogs, or hear laughter drifting from one of the city parks on a summer evening. In a world that moves fast, Fircrest feels like a return to the way many people remember growing up, connected, welcoming, safe, and community-centered. It’s one of the reasons so many buyers searching for homes in Tacoma and University Place quietly discover
Fircrest and never want to leave.

At RM Home Specialists, we often describe Fircrest as a “Big Little City.” It has the warmth and familiarity of a small town, yet it sits right in the heart of everything the Tacoma area has to offer. Residents enjoy their own police department, community pool, parks, recreation programs, and beloved local traditions that create the kind of lifestyle many families are craving today.

Why Buyers Love Fircrest Homes

Fircrest homes are anything but cookie-cutter. One of the most exciting parts of living here is the incredible variety of architecture and personality throughout the neighborhoods. You’ll find:

  • Stunning Mid-Century Modern homes with walls of windows, clean lines, and original character
  • Classic ramblers on beautifully landscaped lots
  • Storybook cottages full of charm
  • Custom luxury homes tucked into quiet streets
  • Stylish new construction homes with modern amenities
  • Homes with large yards, mature landscaping, and space to entertain

Some of the Pacific Northwest’s most timeless Mid-Century Modern homes can be found right here in Fircrest. Buyers who appreciate architecture, craftsmanship, and preserved style are often surprised by how special these homes truly are.

A Lifestyle People Are Searching For

More than ever, buyers are looking for neighborhoods where people still know their neighbors, children play outside, and community matters. Fircrest delivers exactly that.

Living in Fircrest means being close to:

  • Fircrest Golf Club
  • Community parks and playfields
  • The Fircrest Pool and Recreation Center
  • Local coffee shops and dining
  • University Place and Tacoma shopping
  • Chambers Bay Golf Course and trails
  • Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods
  • Easy access to Highway 16 and I-5

It’s central, connected, and incredibly livable.

STORIES FROM HOME

"From the moment we began working with Madison and Regina, we knew we were in exceptional hands. Their gracious professionalism, deep knowledge, and genuine warmth shaped every step of our journey.

Although we’ve purchased homes before, their continual updates, thoughtful explanations, and steady, patient support made us feel genuinely cared for.
When we unexpectedly lost a property due to an unethical selling agent, they stood by us with calm, unwavering professionalism.

We wholeheartedly recommend trusting this exceptional team with life’s most important real estate milestones. Their stylish eye, family‑centered spirit, and heartfelt dedication set them apart in every way. When the day comes for a new chapter and the search for our final, forever dream home, we will undoubtedly call on Madison and Regina again." E. SANDSTROM | TACOMA, WA

For the person who loves a moment, a beautiful table, and bringing people together— but maybe doesn’t want an entire closet dedicated to candlesticks and vintage glassware.

The Market Has Changed. The Strategy Should, Too. The real estate market we got used to from 2019–2022 is gone. Homes aren’t automatically selling in a weekend, multiple offers aren’t a given, and buyers are moving with more caution. We’ve been watching the shift happen for a few years, but it feels official now: buyers and sellers are operating in a new reality—and the old playbook doesn’t work the way it used to.

Sometimes the best local finds happen completely by accident. Last Tuesday, we were on a mission for fresh produce. With the recent lettuce parasite concerns and other produce recalls top of mind, we decided to skip our usual grocery store run and head to the Lakewood Farmers Market. Except… apparently we picked the one Tuesday it wasn't happening. Naturally, we Googled “farm stand near me.” The place with some of the best reviews was about 20 minutes away, tucked into the Puyallup River Valley: Wild Hare Organic Farm . So, off we went.
